Dear Diet Tip, I am 5 feet, 5 inches tall and I weigh 140 pounds. Though I feel rather flabby, my friends tell me that I look great and that I'm not fat. Well, the problem is that I feel fat. How much should I weigh? ~~ Mary Dear Mary, Unless you're seriously overweight, your weight is a matter of preference. Some people of the same height have more muscle mass than others and therefore naturally weigh more. The real indication to how much you should weigh is NOT weight, but body fat. Most women acceptable percent body fat is between 20% and 31%. Percent body fat is your ratio of fat to muscle, which is a much better indicator of fitness than weight. There use to be a time when you had to get in an
pool and have a specialist measure your body fat to get an
accurate measurement of percent body fat . Now days, electronic scales are
extremely accurate in measuring body fat. The Tanita brand scales are
very reliable and well known for accurately measuring body fat.
